Details first 14 years of the KMU Labor Center in the Philippines, one of the most developed and dynamic labor movements in the world.. Looks at how labor emerged in the regional political economies of Mindanao (capitalist agriculture), Cebu (extractive mining), Negros (plantation sugar), and Bataan (non-traditional garments and electronics for export), and then joined in 1980 to create a nation-wide organization that was one of the spearheads against dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
